Question: What is a freemason cuz i had my defensive driving class in a mason lodge and was told that they meet there.?

They're basically a semi-secret quasi-religious cult. The original freemasons were itinerant skilled stonemasons of the 14th century, who are said to have recognized fellow craftsmen by secret signs. Modern Freemasonry is usually traced to the formation of the Grand Lodge in London in 1717; members are typically professionals and businessmen. They hold eleborate secret ceremonies these days. Very mysterious, very powerful cult.

They are a very old fraternal organization, similar to your local elks, rotary, moose club, etc. there is a lot of secrecy about their organization, which has caused many people to come up with some conspiracy theories about how they run the world, blah blah blah. many of the original revolutionaries were members of the freemasons, like washington, jefferson, franklin, paul revere, etc.

I am a Freemason - don't listen to advice on what Freemasons are from non-freemasons...typically here that means anti-mason. Freemasons are members of the social freemason fraternity - a group of men that study morality through ritual, symbol and allegory; their main tenets are faith, hope and charity and they provide more charity than any other group on the planet. to some others: * they are not a cult, secretive nor religious. although modern freemasonry began in 1717, there were Lodges and Grand Lodges before then; and the term freemason has been in use since the 1300's
