Question: Should private school become illegal?
(Posted by: avatar on 2010-03-15 11:20:42)
I think it should it's not fair that rich kids get a better education just because their parents make more money. All children should be given an equal chance to suceed in life regardless of their parents status. What do you think? |

No, because the public school system in my part of the country is abysmal. I was two grades ahead of everyone when I switched in high school, and I was in A.P. classes. Nope, private schools are necessary. |

I'm not a socialist. I think private schools are very good and if you can afford it, great. I cannot but would definately enroll my kids if I could. |

Private schools are not just for the wealthy. Sometimes it is simply a matter of protecting children from social and cultural influences that are contrary to the belief system of the family. I went without new cars, had a smaller home, and bought generic (yet Kosher) food to pay tuition for my kids, so that they could learn proper Jewish things. I have not had steak in 19 years. I even work three jobs. I am hardly rich, and my community members are in the same boat (while still paying taxes for the broken schools our children do not attend). |

Secular education teaches children the skills needed for a job. Not much else. As it's public school the expected jobs are all menial. People with any intelligence and no money in the USA are screwed. It is unfair, education should be free for everyone. And higher education free for those that that want to carry on learning more. It is a good investment, but the super rich elite wont give up their status with out a fight. They hold all the cards, the law is always in their favor. :) Practicing Shaman... quantum physics rocks |

No. What kind of "education " you get is largely up to you and your parents, whether you go to public or private school. Many of the most intelligent people in the world, best scientists, clever inventors, and very wealthy people went to public schools. And some of the most idiotic, brain-dead, worthless people around went to very pricey private schools. How you learn, and what you do with what you learn, are up to the individual more than anything else. Peace. |

How about we just make all public schools conform to the curriculum and the high teacher standards that private schools have. That way all children would receive that better level of education. |

Life is not fair.... What's really not fair is people like you telling other people what they should do with their money in the spirit of fairness... |

Having been to both private and public schools, I can tell you it doesn't make much of a difference. They may be a bit ahead in terms of subject matter, but their social learning is WAY behind public schools. They are sheltered with very little diversity of opinion of background. And that in and of itself hurts your chances of being successful. I'm glad I switched to public school. I can make up for the slower curriculum myself, by taking my own time to learn. But the social/ societal learning can't be replaced. |

Not to be rude, but your an idiot. there's such a thing as scholarships, and were not all rich snobs that you seem to believe we are,ive been to private AND public schools, if you work hard, actuallyy apply you will get a good education, but if you dont apply yourself, then dont complain about other kids getting a better education because they're so called "rich ". my schools $400 a month, not as expensive as other schools, but still morethen public schools, but just because we pay more doesnt meen we dont work to maintain grades, hell, we learn the same shit. and about private school kids being shelterd from the world, thats bull, we do the same things public schools do, we just learn to hide it better (maybe they need to teach that in public schools) and its not that private schools should be banned.the problem is, that there isnt enough disiplin in public schools, and there teaching standards are low, but dont go blaming the world because your stuck in a public school, blame your self for not working hard enough. anyways, have fun in class, work hard ;) peace |
